Cyber-secure Brain-Machine Interaction: Our Role in the NAFAS Project
About the customer and the project
Zander Labs is a cutting-edge German-Dutch deep tech company that is leading the way in passive brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and neuroadaptive technology. They have partnered with the Agency for Innovation in Cyber Security GmbH (Cyberagentur) for the "Neuroadaptivity for Autonomous Systems" (NAFAS) project, which aims to create machines that can read and interpret human brain activity.
KiviCore has been brought on board to collaborate with Zander Labs on this groundbreaking initiative, working to develop a super-compact, mobile Brain Communication Interface (BCI) that is not only innovative but also secure. This project is all about bridging the gap between the human brain and machines, opening up new possibilities in medicine, neurotechnology, and beyond.
What our core tasks are
KiviCore is responsible for designing and building a secure BCI module that integrates both hardware and software. The goal is clear. Ensure that wireless data transmission is fast, secure, and aligns with the fundamental principles of communication security: authenticity, data integrity, and confidentiality.
We are focused on making sure the communication between the BCI hardware, amplifier, and host application is seamless and lag-free, enabling real-time brain signal transmission for precise device control and enhancing diagnostic applications. At KiviCore, we are all about developing the hardware and software needed to ensure secure and efficient communication. We are incorporating encryption techniques to safeguard the system and protect sensitive data at all stages.
For us, the NAFAS project is more than just a technical challenge – it is an opportunity to push the boundaries of technology in ways that will not only improve the lives of people with neurological conditions but also revolutionize the way we interact with machines. And we are doing it all with solid cybersecurity in place!
