KiviBoot-Linux Overview
KiviBoot-Linux extends the KiviBoot architecture towards Linux-based FPGA systems. It combines the two boot stages KiviBoot-NanoBL and KiviBoot-SecureBL with AES and SHA hardware acceleration and integration of the platform-specific Linux boot environment.
KiviBoot-NanoBL establishes the initial software stage in protected on-chip memory and checks KiviBoot-SecureBL before handing over execution. KiviBoot-SecureBL provides the next trusted boot stage and the starting point for integration with subsequent Linux boot components.
The Linux integration includes OpenSBI and U-Boot where required by the target architecture, together with loading Linux kernel and device tree components. Their sequence, storage locations and verification policy are defined for the selected platform.
The initial boot components, FPGA configuration and keys must be protected by the target platform’s security architecture. The agreed verification scope determines which subsequent components are authenticated before use.
Tested reference platforms
KiviBoot-Linux has been implemented on the following reference systems. Each uses a platform-specific memory layout and boot flow.
